Special Section: Pain At The Pump According to AAA, the national average is $3.99. Texas drivers have it a little easier, paying an average of $3.86, but the average in Houston is $3.88.Some analysts have predicted that gas could cost $5 per gallon in the summer months. The soaring prices are putting a strain on many drivers' bank accounts."It's ridiculous. Sometimes I have to walk where I need to go," driver Kevin Bonner said. "It just feels like a crisis."Drivers said they are trying to get all their errands done on one trip to save money."Got to put less in and driving less," driver Chad Wilson said. "Can't afford to fill it up no more."Some drivers are paying $75 to $100 each time they fill up their tanks. The pain at the pump could cause drivers to shorten their summer vacations, or ...

Thanks Obama for caring so much about us that you said that you want hight gas prices.

booger - 05-06-11, 04:28 PM

Obama's energy policies (preventing domestic oil exploration/drilling) and the Fed's printing money are, in part, responsible for higher gas prices. And now he wants to add a tax on MILEAGE! He clearly wants to get rid of oil entirely, in favor of 'green' technology. He can't begin to make that happen until the price of gas is at least as high as the cost of green technology. then he will have to tackle the inconvenience of having to re-charge those electric cars every 50 miles or so.

Red In denver - 05-06-11, 05:12 PM

Ok y'all are on crack. The price of oil is from the speculators. Sure we should drill more, but that will not lower the price of oil on the market by much in the long and short term. We are only going to drill now because it is profitable. The wars were started by Bush not Obamma.

Jake Steed - 05-06-11, 06:14 PM

Well he publicly stated that he would like to see gas at $6 to $7 dollars a gallon...of course obowma supporters were so busy yelling yes we can they didn't actually pay any attention to what a sick socialist puke he is....oh and those electric cars...NEED electricity to be powered....obowma is also doing everything in his power to eliminate all of the affordable sources of electricity that we have in the US....I guess it is going to be unicorn farts for us...

Quinn - 05-06-11, 06:15 PM

...well Jake...obowma has continued the wars AND got us into a third war to As for speculators...gee when Bush was in office it was his policies that caused the high prices...I bet you were on the boards whining about it but NOW it is not the president....DESPITE the fact this president has activily engaged in policies to drive prices higher!!! It is his policy, he has stated it numerous times that he wants gas prices to be higher...and yet a stupid liberal/socialist parasite like yourself is out posting nonsense like...it's the speculators....why don't you go back to your Organizing for America site to get your next thought to vomit out

Quinn - 05-06-11, 06:21 PM

We must all, each one of us, start listening to the people in this country with a PLAN! Not those who hope for brighter days but those who are creating them. T. BOONE PICKENS is the only man in this country who has any leadership at all in getting us moving without OPEC. Start listening America, because Obama will only let you down.

Tweezer - 05-06-11, 07:19 PM

Why all the nonsense about high gas prices? I live in Virginia and buy gas for less than $.20 per gallon. About $.15 per gallon. The fact is, that gas prices are today less than they were in the mid 1950s when they were $.20 or so a gallon. Yes of course you can buy gas at less than $.20 per gallon. You just have to use REAL MONEY and sell a couple of SILVER DIMES that were minted before 1965 and are worth about $3.00 each in the COUNTERFEIT MONEY that the Federal Reserve prints up. Yes REAL MONEY, not the Counterfiet worthless paper that the Criminals in Washington have foisted off on America since the Mid 60s and early 70s. REAL MONEY is GOLD and SILVER not worhtless, backed only by the lies of the POLITICIANS and Bureaucrats in Washington. And you want to continue to vote for these creeps and Embezzlers and Banksters? Don't have any Silver Coins? Well that is your shortsightedness. Why don't you try and think instead of going through your life like a ZOMBIE.

gogoldpete - 05-06-11, 07:45 PM

$1.81- avg gasoline price per gallon the week of Jan. 26, 2009; AND then someone took office that day and look where we are at now. Hey but he did get bin laden, only bc he didnt shut down Gitmo- Did not know someone could do more of a horrible job then president Jimmy Carter

joesmogan - 05-06-11, 08:13 PM

You brainwashed peabrains. It's not Obama's fault. Even with an aggressive domestic oil drilling policy, it would not impact the price of oil. It's a WORLDWIDE commodity and the US only contributes roughly 7%. A drop in the bucket. If you want to look at a why, look at the resource hungry countries of India and China. Then look to yourselves... Americans love to complain about how things are and are not willing to adapt. Maybe you should consider trading in your SUV and truck for a smaller car.

Jaze123 - 05-06-11, 10:35 PM

Speculators are speculating high Oil prices because Obama has a sh*tty energy policy.

If any of you fools try to remember a time when a former Prez. was kissing and shaking the hands of a rich saudi prince, you will recall that we are still very good friends with Saudi Arabia. Think of it this way. At least you are helping a close friend and ally of the united states of america.

Winning - 05-07-11, 05:32 AM

I agree is the currency that's the problem. As we devalue currency purchase of all commodoties on the world market must require more dollars. Pres Obama can do almost nothing. Just like he can't control the Mississippi or keep baby boomers from retiring. Not Bush's fault either. It's demographics. The only real solution is to reduce dependancy on the government to care for our youth and elderly. It sounds cruel, but this isn't the purpose of government. It's the job of kids to care for their parents and parents to care for their children. The government simply can never have the resources. It's not God.

C2Home - 05-07-11, 08:30 AM

...oh yes..one other thing: You can't pay anyone to really "care". Just like you can't pay anyone to love. That's a complete misnomer. What a shallow culture we have.

C2Home - 05-07-11, 08:36 AM

lessee, more than enough supply, less demand..however the prices keep going up...ALL the politicians seem unable, or more likely unwilling to do anything other than give lips service as it affects every American worker..driving down our economy. Betting somewhere along the line they are complicit in gouging the public. We need an inspector general with subpoena powers to investigate this monopoly, and for Prez Obie to remove the gas and oil from the commodities market NOW; which congrees gave to their big business pals as a gift some years back..what a bunch of greedy criminals

Robb32 - 05-07-11, 10:06 AM

A simple solution to high gas prices is located at our website...shhh...the big oil companies don't want this secret to get out!

GreenFuel.us - 05-07-11, 11:04 AM

Supply and Demand people!-nothing more, nothing less-no greed, conspiracy or aliens involved. Our current course of blocking development of our unequaled gas, oil and coal resources is causing the problem. Environmentalist want to stop carbon burning--O.K. If "they" give up their cars, plastics, fertilizers, and self righteous arogance, I will sttart listening. Otherwise--get out of the way.

Mikey - 05-07-11, 11:32 AM

What can Obama do for gas prices? You people are nuts, you will at the same time cry about fuel efficiency standards for cars and gas prices...its amazing how hypocritical the republican party is

Deezul - 05-07-11, 12:03 PM

Please, Please, Please dear God, let Barack Obama be a one term president. We can't take this anymore. I remember the complaint was, do I buy food or perscription medicine. Now the answer is neither, Food is too high, gas is high, and without my perscription I may drop dead. Let's hurry up and end my misery. I'll fill my tank and get it overwith.

Spotty - 05-07-11, 12:34 PM

Every time I fill up at the pump between now and election day I'm going to be thinking about Obama.

Dryden01 - 05-07-11, 12:48 PM

Pathetic reading these comments. 90% of Americans obviously have no idea how the real world works, and think that the President can simply snap his fingers and voila, you have lower gas prices. That sort of intervention in the market truly would be socialist. Americans have to start looking at their own consumption habits. There are ways to mitigate the effects of rising fuel prices - but it will require effort and change. Stop being so lazy and quit your whining.

Bob Oh - 05-07-11, 12:59 PM

Use a little sense, and just get rid of your SUV. QE1 and QE2 will make everything cost more in dollars, because your dollars are worth less. (Hint: Buy a hybrid or something similar.)

makesSense - 05-07-11, 01:37 PM

I am so sick and tired of whining Americans kvetching about the price of gasoline. Learn how to conserve! Ohh, and maybe a bikeride once in a while can help with those bulbous behinds and belt-busting bellies.

Snerdly - 05-07-11, 02:15 PM

I am so sick of the those that keep saying "just get rid of your SUV! These are obviously people that don't have a big family (or don't care about their safety)and I bet those "smart" cars are really useful on a farm! And I would like one of you to explain how you could afford to trade in an SUV (that you still owe more than it's market value on BECAUSE of gas prices)to buy a hybrid that costs $40,000 AND will more than double your monthly payment! But then again...liberals never follow the loic to its end result do they?

GAhull - 05-07-11, 02:47 PM

It's OK,a small price to pay to make sure that we won't have access to those nasty energy consuming 100 watt incandescent light bulbs. Seems appropriate that the legacy of the Pelosi-Reid congress is a dim bulb. . .

It a good thing we are all rich, like our dear leader in our commie paradise, once he sucks all the money from the rich, and they leave the country we can all work for Obama, all of us riding along on our bicycles, even in the snow, the future is ours, heil Obama.s

stuck in Illinois - 05-07-11, 05:30 PM

You guys are lucky. I live in Sweden and right now the average price is 14,38 SEK/liter or close to $9/gallon. 60% of that is tax. I DREAM of your gas prices.

Meanwhile, in Sweden.. - 05-07-11, 05:34 PM

Illinois sucks big time, and Obama is on his way to making the rest of the country just like us,I not sure how I will fill my heating oil tank at $850 a fill and kerosene for the little heater at $5.69a gallon, many times it was 45 degrees in the house in the morning, should make Obama happy, been buying diesel 5 gallons at a time for the oil burner, wife on diaysis, 60 mile round trip three times a week at $4.19 a gallon, would love to see Obama have to carry to 5 gallon cans to the back of the white house to keep his skinny butt warm.God help us all.

USA down the drain. - 05-07-11, 05:43 PM

@Bob Oh..SUV has become synonymous with any passenger truck that gets less than 20 MPG. How does that "smart"car do in 2 feet of snow? What's the comparative rate of consumption between so called SUV's and freight carriers? How you going to solve that problem? Know of any 35MPG tractor trailers?

GAhull - 05-07-11, 06:27 PM

Build your World on unsustainable practices, and look what happens. This is only the start. Wait til things get real tough. There's going to be billions of little yellow men who will gladly pay $15 a gallon to rub their 3-cylinders jalopies. Pay up, or start WALKING.

Feldwebel Wolfenstool - 05-07-11, 08:29 PM

fillipe - 05-07-11, 10:40 PM

Try electric cars? Bull, in Washington, the government is going to tax electric cars a yearly surcharge because they are not paying gasoline taxes. Once again follow the money. Taxes on gas are about 18% per dollar. They can get lots more money by limiting supply so prices will rise.

acetech - 05-08-11, 02:39 AM

This is the Obama energy policy. Hope and Change! Do nothing but talk and call people names, that is Obama's policy. He is the biggest sham in the history of the USA, the worst Prez and Worst person to ever hold this office. Jeremiah Wright's protege, for racism, anti semitism anti american, radical anti capitalism. Hope is not a strategy, change is not a destination.

Dennis Klein - 05-08-11, 05:07 AM

I’m sure that the poor that voted for Hope and Change are really enjoying Obama’s brand of social justices. The rich pay $5.00 a gal. The poor pay $5.00 a gal. Talk about a regressive tax. How’s that Hope and looking for Change to by Gas work-in out for ya?

Rally2xs - 05-08-11, 09:37 AM

stop your damn winging, the price in the U.K.for a gallon of petrol is $14.00 and still rising. It has nothing to do with economics and all to do with control of the population

gingernuts uk - 05-08-11, 10:37 AM

Barack Obama owns the environmental movement. He even kept Greenpeace quiet last fall when he agreed to let Japan kill more whales. He's got them because he wants to get americans out of our cars, and into the "light rail" boondoggles he's trying to get through congress and various other "alernative energies" tax schemes--none of which will power our cars. When Congress kills those inner cities trains and announces an invesigation of the high gas prices, the price of gas will come down, like it did in 2008. That's the immediate solution. The midterm solution is to defeat Obama in 2012. But not by electing the Bush Insider, Mitch Daniels.

Randy111 - 05-08-11, 01:29 PM

anyone who votes for BO in 2012 should be brought up on charges of treason for aiding and abedding a man that wants to see the demise of the United States. While domestic drilling is not a quick solution, there are things presbo could be doing to help ease the cost of filling up on us. we should drill more domestically, why? to end our dependence on foreign oil and to stop buying it from people who want to see us all dead. and what are you people who are buying in to electric cars going to do when an antiquated power grid completley fails and you can't plug your cars in?

nativejag - 05-08-11, 01:41 PM

So you want to see high prices? Come to Westchester County, N.Y. Gas prices $4.30 per gallon regular...if you can find the "cheap" gas station, a simple 3 bedroom - 1 bath room house...$450,00 as is!!!...real estate taxes average $11,000 per year, electricity average $150 per month, heat in the winter $ 650 per month ...that's if you keep your thermostat at 68 degrees....average salary for a 10 year public school teacher..$85,000 with "everything covered" medical, pension of at least $80,000 when you retire at 55.....all paid for with the real estate taxes....MY money...and the beat goes on!! And we keep electing the same politicians!

rita 123 - 05-08-11, 02:24 PM

I live in California and the cost of a gallon of gas is a little under $5.00. The dems love it because California is the only one of few states that have a sales tax of 6% on top of all existing state and federal taxes. Where is the push by the dems for a investigation? Where are the New York Times, LA Times and Boston Globe? During the Bush days, these newspapers bashed Bush. But I guess their guy is in there.

hammer10 - 05-08-11, 03:27 PM

Thanks Obama you said you’d get gas to sky rocket. “Mission almost Accomplished”. As Obama’s Energy Secretary Steven Chu said " Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe," . It also helps that they’ll make Uncle George Soros rich and themselves. Go Brazil and Petrobras . George I mean God don't forget to count Obama’s profits when they vote him out in 2012. Please Check out song called teapartiers I can’t hear you at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJfboOindCo Here’s a verse Doctors are retiring earlier but we’re getting 17000 new IRS This is how Obama creates health care jobs I guess For 234 years this country’s been God’s blessing. Now he’s following Cloward and Piven’s to bankrupt the country I’m guessing If Obamacare gives Grandma and Grandpa a scare Think how when their rationed and die earlier we’ll save on healthcare

JoeAstroturf - 05-08-11, 05:41 PM

If you want to vent in a more positive way, try joining the sticky note campaign. Put a fine point marker and post it pad in your vehicle. Next time you fuel up, leave a little note on the pump to the next victim, of this facet of Obama`s "Hope and Change", reminding them to "thank" him at the ballot box in 2012 for these gas prices. NOBAMA 2012!

DaveG - 05-08-11, 09:23 PM

obama can't lower gas prices, but his policies can certainly drive them up. After taxes I can't afford a hybrid. As far as electric cars being good, the power to recharge those things that don't have the speed or range to get me to work comes from coal in most ares. But getting to work isn't a concern for most obama worshipers.
